Weddings at the manor are generally relaxed and free-wheeling affairs with a happy festival style and atmosphere, ceremonies in the open-air, outdoor caterers with barbecues and pig roasts and the like, lots of camping and dancing till late. We keep restrictions and rules to a minimum and fun and laid back boho-style to a maximum.
For weddings at the manor, the ballroom is centre-stage - a huge, beautiful room for up to 140 standing (dancing), or up to 100 banqueting. And then there are some amazing spaces around the grounds for a ceremony, like the ruined chapel on the island wood.
This is how it works: you rent the manor for the weekend, and have exclusive use of most of the house and sixty acres of grounds for the whole weekend. Plan a rolling house party the whole way through, and a big celebration for one of the days.
Anything from 80 to 140 guests is a great number for Killyon. 10 guest residents can stay in the main house all weekend. You also get a fabulous glamp-site with 5 beautiful bell-tents to put up another 10 guests for the night of the big party, and anyone is free to bring their own tent and just pitch it in the field over-night.
There are other zones to extend into – the ballroom opens onto a deck and lawns, a herb garden and pigeon-house shebeen right beside it. The back of the ballroom leads through a bathroom block (three loos and shower) to a courtyard enclosed with ancient stone walls – an ideal smoking zone. Out the front of the house, there's some all weather surface, and more lawns.
Although we are strictly DIY, we have tried to deal with the duller parts out of it , and provide most of the furniture, lighting and signage you'll need inside and out - we can also recommend suppliers and staff to help with the rest. You basically just add your decor, food, drink, music, people.... laughter and romance.
The beauty of it all is, it’s self-catering, keeping the costs down and your own party vision to the fore. We also have staff and cleaning teams who can help you out, if preferred.
